About Us
Our History
In July of 1987, Carolyn McCarthy and Jeanette Goldbach joined together in hopes of establishing an organization designed for young women. Their hopes were to establish an organization committed to developing the individual's leadership, social, charitable, and academic skills in the college community. Plans were made, girls chosen and a date set for the organization to set foot on the Daemen University campus.
On September 28, 1987 fourteen young women from Daemen University made a commitment to share in something that would make a difference not only in their lives, but in the lives of others. This group of girls formed their organzation called: SOMETHING SPECIAL
